🚓 Police Increase Patrols and Target Crime on Holyrood Estate

Southampton — Police have stepped up their presence on Holyrood Estate following a series of reports relating to anti‑social behaviour, drug activity, and disturbances affecting residents across several blocks. Officers from the Bargate Neighbourhood Policing Team say the estate remains a priority area, with targeted patrols and community engagement forming the core of their current approach.

According to the team, recent operations have led to multiple arrests connected to drug supply and related offences. Officers say they are working closely with Southampton City Council and local housing teams to identify persistent hotspots and respond more quickly to resident reports.

“We know Holyrood has experienced ongoing issues, and we’re committed to being visible, approachable, and proactive,” a spokesperson for the neighbourhood team said. “We rely heavily on information from residents — every report helps us build a clearer picture of what’s happening on the estate.”

Residents have reported mixed experiences. Some say the increased patrols have made a noticeable difference, while others feel problems continue in certain areas, particularly around stairwells, car parks, and poorly lit corners of the estate.

Police say they are encouraging residents to report incidents through the appropriate channels — 999 for emergencies and 101 or online reporting for non‑urgent matters — but acknowledge that trust and confidence in the system vary across the estate.

Alongside enforcement, officers say they are exploring opportunities for community engagement, including walkabouts, drop‑in sessions, and joint visits with council officers. These are intended to give residents more direct access to the team and help shape future policing priorities.

“We want Holyrood residents to feel heard,” the spokesperson added. “The more we work together, the safer the estate becomes.”
