HEART is made up of the people who live on Holyrood Estate — tenants, leaseholders, and residents from every block and every background. We’re a community‑led group built on shared experiences, not titles or labels. Tenants rent their homes, leaseholders own their flats on long leases, and residents include anyone who calls Holyrood home, whether they rent, own, or live with family. Each group faces different challenges, but we all care about the estate and want it to be a safer, fairer, and more connected place to live. HEART brings everyone together, recognising our differences while focusing on what unites us: our community.
Our mission is to bring the people of Holyrood Estate together — tenants, leaseholders, and residents of every background — to build a stronger, safer, and more connected community. We aim to give everyone a voice, encourage open communication, and make sure concerns are heard and acted on. HEART exists to support residents, promote fairness, celebrate our diversity, and work constructively with local partners to improve life on the estate. Everything we do is shaped by the people who live here, because Holyrood is our home and our community deserves to thrive. vitae.
Our vision is a Holyrood Estate where everyone feels connected, respected, and proud to call this place home. We imagine a community where tenants, leaseholders, and residents work side by side, shaping a neighbourhood built on trust, fairness, and shared purpose. HEART aims to create a future where voices are heard, support is easy to find, and positive change is driven by the people who live here. Together, we can build an estate that is safer, stronger, and full of opportunity for all.
Volunteers are the foundation of everything we hope to achieve on Holyrood Estate. By giving a little time, sharing a skill, or simply offering your enthusiasm, you help shape a stronger and more connected community. HEART welcomes anyone who wants to get involved — whether you’re experienced, completely new to volunteering, or just curious about what you can offer. Every contribution, big or small, helps us support residents, build trust, and create positive change across the estate. Together, we can make a real difference.
Holyrood Estate has stood at the heart of Southampton for generations, shaped by the people who have called it home. Built in the post‑war years, the estate was part of a wider effort to rebuild the city after the devastation of the Blitz. Its design reflected the optimism of the time — modern homes, green spaces, and a layout intended to bring neighbours closer together. Over the decades, Holyrood has grown, changed, and adapted, welcoming families from all walks of life and becoming one of the city’s most diverse and vibrant communities.
From the early days of new brickwork and young families, through periods of challenge and renewal, the estate has always been defined by its residents. Each block, walkway, and courtyard carries stories of people who worked, raised children, supported neighbours, and built friendships that lasted a lifetime. Today, Holyrood remains a place of resilience and character — a community shaped not just by its buildings, but by the generations who have lived, loved, and looked after one another here.
HEART is proud to continue that tradition by helping residents connect, support each other, and shape the next chapter of Holyrood’s story together.
